Prayers of the People

April 14, 2013

Sisters and brothers, today as we greet you in Christ we invite you to pray and rejoice together. We are on the threshold; we are the witness to a new life. As surely as you are transforming our season we can feel the excitement of your transformation in us. Remind us to be followers of your law, despite our human fallibility. Help us to renew our trust in you and in the love you would have for us. So, when you hear the words, "God of New Possibilities," please respond with, "Hear our Prayers."

God of Life, we join with others as we pray for the Kootenay Presbytery delegates attending the spring meeting in Cranbrook this weekend. We pray for our brothers & sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, peacemakers and peacekeepers serving throughout the world, and the peoples of Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan who are named in the World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle. God of New Possibilities...    "Hear our Prayers."

Compassionate God we bring to you the needs of those burdened by sorrow, remembering especially those whose illness is terminal, those whose sadness finds no comfort, those far from home and reconciliation. We especially voice our heartfelt concerns for all those named in our Prayer List. Into your care and keeping we commit those whom we have mentioned and those known to us who need that sense of your presence, as we also bring them to you in prayer at this time...    ...God of New Possibilities...    "Hear our Prayers."

Heavenly God, renew our commitment to the common need and dependency we would have for each other. Open our hearts and minds to all that we can share in your family. Show us how everlasting love is possible and speak to us through one another here and with the faith of others across the world. God of New Possibilities...    "Hear our Prayers."
