Intergenerational Sunday
The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday

and is an Intergenerational Sunday,

Activity packages are available from the ushers.

We Are An Affirming Ministry
As an Affirming Ministry, we celebrate the diversity of God’s creation.

We celebrate the richness of our community when we
have diversity in age, gender identity,
racial/cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, ability,
and family configurations.
We seek to create a safe space
with an open invitation to bring every aspect of your whole self into
your participation in this ministry.

The flowers this morning are in loving memory of
Graeme and Rhoda Steed
with love from the family.

Dream a Dream’ Christmas Cantata & White Gift Sunday
On Sunday, December 23rd during worship there will be a Christmas Cantata performed by our Chancel Choir. This ‘Dream a Dream’ Christmas Cantata was developed by musician/composer Ron Klusmeier as a fundraiser for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, which the United Church has supported for many years—it is our White Gift charity this year; the words to the anthems and hymns are all by Shirley Erena Murray—a New Zealand lyricist who writes provocatively and inspirationally. There will be a pamphlet and envelope with your bulletin that Sunday with information about the Canadian Foodgrains Bank whose mission is:

“providing food in times of crisis for hungry people in the developing world; helping people grow more food to better feed themselves and their families; and providing nutritional support to malnourished people with a focus on pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and young children.”

Special donations may be made December 23rd with cheques written directly to ‘Canadian Foodgrains Bank’ (which we will collect and send on your behalf) or, if you prefer, to Nelson United Church, making a note on the memo line that it’s for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

Let’s Welcome Robyn!
Following the performance of the Christmas Cantata during worship on Sunday, December 23rd, let’s have another pot-luck!  By then, Robyn will have been with us for over a month, and we want to properly celebrate her connection with the NUC family.  Please bring a finger food, pot-luck item to share for lunch that day.

There are 72 members on our UCW list.  Each year, in November, we hold an AGM to disperse the year’s funds that have been amassed through dedicated work and fundraising. This year’s allocations are:

$1,000 to Camp Koolaree ($500 designated for youth or child sponsorships)
$1,000 to the UCC Mission and Service Fund
$200 to the NUC Benevolent Fund
From last year’s funds, the UCW recently purchased two new long tables for the Church Hall and a dozen more folding chairs.  Thanks to Donna Strongman for seeing to that order.
