For the Children Sunday school resumes each Sunday except for the Intergenerational Sunday We have a Nursery Room available upstairs by the balcony, a Quiet Play Centre at the front right-hand side of the sanctuary and activity packages are available from the ushers.

Intergenerational Sunday The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday and is an Intergenerational Sunday, so the children do not go to Sunday School. Activity packages are available from the ushers.

We Are An Affirming Ministry As an Affirming Ministry, we celebrate the diversity of God’s creation. We celebrate the richness of our community when we have diversity in age, gender identity, racial/cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, ability, and family configurations. We seek to create a safe space with an open invitation to bring every aspect of your whole self into your participation in this ministry.

Today is an Intergenerational Sunday
The first Sunday of each month is an Intergeneration Sunday as we gather as a whole community to share in communion. Activity packages for the young people are available from the ushers and children are welcome to come up front to the children’s area at any time.

Thank You …
To David and Robin for meaningful and blessed Christmas worship services.
To Robyn and the Chancel Choir, and Shirley Moon for lovely Christmas music.
To the Men’s Group for providing after worship coffee services in December.
To Catherine Rose, Marg Stacey, Carol Allen, Verna Kidd and Joe Woodward for writing the December prayers of the people.
To Judy Cameron and Kathy Baker, powerpoint preparers for December.
To Joe Woodward, Jean Elliot and David Cunningham,  PowerPoint Operators for December.

Friendly Reminder re Parking for Church & Church Events
With our location on the corner of two streets, and with the hills parking is a challenge. Our request is that the more able-bodied folk please park farther away from the church thus leaving the spots on the streets closer to the church for those who need them. This includes the parking lot at the back of the church, too. Many of you already carpool and that’s great; a nice social time, too.

Town Hall Meeting next Sunday, January 13th
It is time for Round #2 for our discussion about a congregational contract position to help us look at our future as a United Church congregation. We will meet after worship to hear about the Board’s refinement of the proposal given in a meeting last fall. The Board has tentatively called this position “Nelson United Church Director of Community Engagement.”The proposal is available here to download or read online.

Climate Action Now
Are you interested in exploring how to develop your climate advocacy skills? We invite you to join Dona Grace and Anni Holtby, recently trained Climate Advocate Facilitators, for a special workshop hosted by our local chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. The world’s greatest problems were not solved by hopelessly looking the other way, but rather empowering ourselves to take action as a group. Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) supports individuals to come together as a team, to step up and make a difference. CCL’s approach is non-partisan and based on the principles of non-violence and compassion. Details:
