For the Children Sunday school happens each Sunday except for the Intergenerational Sunday We have a Nursery Room available upstairs by the balcony, a Quiet Play Centre at the front right-hand side of the sanctuary and activity packages are available from the ushers.

Intergenerational Sunday The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday and is an Intergenerational Sunday, so the children do not go to Sunday School. Activity packages are available from the ushers.

We Are An Affirming Ministry As an Affirming Ministry, we celebrate the diversity of God’s creation. We celebrate the richness of our community when we have diversity in age, gender identity, racial/cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, ability, and family configurations. We seek to create a safe space with an open invitation to bring every aspect of your whole self into your participation in this ministry.

Church Picnic Pot Luck Style — After worship next Sunday, June 16th  at Horsfall’s
The picnic lunch is pot luck style so please bring food to share as well as plates, cups and cutlery. There are lots of chairs so you don’t need to bring one.  Beverages and ice cream will be provided. We will enjoy a delicious pot luck picnic lunch and have a wonderful time visiting, playing bocce ball and horseshoes … Please, come join in the fun!

Pot luck Lunch after Worship next Sunday, June 23rd
Please bring something to share for lunch after worship next Sunday as we will be hosting a pot luck lunch for our guests who have attended the Faith Festival on the weekend and will worship with us on Sunday.

Register for the Kootenay Faith Fest at Nelson United Church June 21st to 23rd
The registration fee for individuals is $50 and covers workshops and meals.  However, NUC has paid for a “Whole Group Rate” of $325 for a group of 7-12 (more than 12 are welcome!) from our faith community so please contact Lois in our church office 250-352-2822 if you plan to attend.  We will work out a per person rate depending on how many sign up.  To learn more about the Faith Festival please pick up an information sheet from the ushers or visit our website.

Funding Received!
Thanks to our intrepid grant writers (Marg and Berdine), and with the assistance of our very fine quote-gatherer, Bob Steed,we are pleased to announce that we have received some major funding to complete replacement of the windows in the Narthex area, and to assist with paying for carpeting to redo the narthex and stairs throughout the church. Marg or Bob if you would like more information about this, and be sure to thank them for all the extra work they have done over the past few months.

Men’s Game Time Every second and fourth Friday of the month  Men will gather at 1:00 pm in the Trinity Lounge to play any variety of games like UNO, Cribbage, Crokinole. Come and join us. Joe Woodward and David Cunningham can tell you more…

NUC Wordle Bags
We purchased another set of 25 NUC Wordle Bags from a local screen printer.  They’re blue and have a large outside pocket and two small inside pockets. These bags look great and are very versatile.  Please see Lois in the church office if you’d like to purchase a bag.  They are $25 each.

*Church Business Parking on Silica Street*
The City of Nelson has advised us to issue Parking Passes to those who park in the Church Business Parking on Silica Street on Mondays to Saturdays between 9 am to 5 pm.  The bylaw officer will ticket anyone parking in these spots that do not have a Parking Pass.  Please see Lois in the church office to receive a Parking Pass.

Friendly Reminder re Parking for Church & Church Events
With our location on the corner of two streets, and with the hills parking is a challenge. Our request is that the more able-bodied folk please park farther away from the church thus leaving the spots on the streets closer to the church for those who need them. This includes the parking lot at the back of the church, too. Many of you already carpool and that’s great; a nice social time, too.

Hearing Loop Installation
The Sanctuary’s main floor Hearing Loop is up and running and folks are reporting success with the system. If you find yourself having problems getting your hearing aids to connect with the Hearing Loop, please check with your Hearing Aid provider to make sure your hearing aids have a t-coil and are set up correctly.

NUC Account at Bottle Depot We have an account set up at the Nelson Leafs Bottle Depot and Recycling Centre.A reminder that before they start counting your bottles and cans, let them know they’re for Nelson United Church or they’ll give you cash if you don’t.Every little bit helps – thanks, everyone!

Looking for Ushers We are looking for someone to join the Ushering Team. Would you be able to spend a bit of time before the service, once every 5 months or so, welcoming folks and giving out bulletins? Please let me, or Lois in the office, know if you would like to volunteer in this way. Thanks – Donna Strongman
