For the Children
Children are always welcome and encouraged to come to church on Sunday.
We have a Nursery Room available upstairs by the balcony,
Quiet Play Centre in the front right-hand side of the sanctuary
and activity packages are available from the ushers.

Intergenerational Sunday
The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday
and is an Intergenerational Sunday,
so the children do not go to Sunday School.
Activity packages are available from the ushers.

We Are An Affirming Ministry
As an Affirming Ministry, we celebrate the diversity of God’s creation.
We celebrate the richness of our community when we
have diversity in age, gender identity,
racial/cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, ability,
and family configurations.
We seek to create a safe space
with an open invitation to bring every aspect of your whole self into
your participation within this ministry.

Custodial Relief
John Pengelly will be on leave from August 1 to September 14. The M&P Committee is arranging relief for this period of time. We would like someone to accept a temporary contract to cover his custodial responsibilities during this time; this would be a part-time commitment for six weeks. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact Lena Horswill, Lorna Inkster, or Jody Dudley.

Congregational Update
Following worship on Sunday, July 8th, there will be a quick presentation of the completed legal agreement between Nelson Food Cupboard Society and Nelson United Church.  We will meet for questions and/or discussion right after church in the sanctuary and then go for coffee downstairs.

Success!
The annual Garage Sale last Saturday was a grand success, realizing a profit of just over $1,500.  Thanks to the men who set-up the tables and looked after the ‘guy’ stuff and electronic tables.  Thanks to 56 Unit women who looked after the books, Jubilee on linens, Elizabeth on jewelry, Marg on collectibles and Caritas on housewares, toys etc.  Thanks to the ladies in the kitchen who kept us well-supplied with coffee, tea and goodies.  Thanks to the cashiers and the wonderful people who stayed to pack everything up at the end.  The sorting and marking on Friday is a very big, tiring job, and we didn’t have quite enough help this year.  If possible, please try to set aside a few hours to help out on the set-up day next June.  We had only a small amount of the leftovers go to the dump.  Most of the items were boxed up and distributed to the Hospital Auxiliary shop, IODE, Women’s Centre and the Cranbrook United Church Thrift Shop.  We are very grateful to John Couch and his helper, Morgan, for doing the dump runs, and loading and unloading the truck.  Thank you to all who supported!
