 For the Children
 Children are always welcome and encouraged to come to church on Sunday. 
We have a Nursery Room available upstairs by the balcony, 
Quiet Play Centre in the front right-hand side of the sanctuary
and activity packages are available from the ushers. 

Intergenerational Sunday
The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday
and is an Intergenerational Sunday
so the children do not go to Sunday School. 
Activity packages are available from the ushers.

Amnesty International Vigil for Missing and Murdered 
Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people
Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 5 pm in front of the courthouse

Join thousands of other people across Canada to honor the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-spirit people. The violence experienced by Indigenous women and girls in Canada is a national tragedy. Produce Needed
Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Sunday, October 8th
The décor team will be decorating on Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 am.  If you have produce or flowers you wish to donate or lend, please drop it off at the church office either on Thursday, October 5th or on Saturday morning by 10 am.  Helpers on Saturday are welcomed as well.

A Thanksgiving Manna Jar
On Thanksgiving Sunday we will be filling a manna jar with “reminders of places where God has led [you], people with whom God has graced [you], all the gifts God has poured out upon [you] over the years” (words by Thom Shuman, the Iona Community).  So we ask you, over the next few weeks, to be thinking of a small item that represents one such person, place or blessing received, and bring it to our Thanksgiving service on October 8th.  (Your objects will be returned!)

Recorder Ensemble
Spirit Winds Recorder Ensemble will start rehearsals soon, as well as the Beginner Recorder Class.If you are interested in joining either group, please talk to Robin Murray, youth@nelsonunitedchurch.ca, 250-352-2822.

We Know That You Are Out there
The Pastoral Care Team is looking for people to help support members of our congregation. Do you like to play games? Visit? Could you help drive others to church or church events? Just a little bit of help can make a significant difference in the lives of others. Are you already doing this? We’d like to hear about it. Chair Yoga with Instructor, Clement
All are welcome to join in gentle chair yoga classes on Thursdays at 10:00 am in the Church Hall, Tuesdays at 6:00 pm at the Senior’s Centre. Cost:  nominal fee.  For more info: Irene McIlwaine

Kootenay Refugee Coalition 
If you are interested in donating to help the Kootenay Refugee Coalition support refugees coming to our area and to assist in supporting Selem and Helen from Eritrea, you may do so through your offering envelopes, noting Refugee Coalition in the memo line.  One time or monthly donations are greatly appreciated. Please remember to refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes, aftershaves and all other scented products to church.  We have some members with allergies to these products.

Caring Casseroles
Do you know someone (or yourself) who would be helped by having a pre-made meal?  There are a variety (vegetarian, gluten-free, and meat) of casseroles in the freezer in our kitchen.  Please let Donna Strongman know and it could be delivered, or take it yourself.

Prayer Shawl Group
Over 165 hand knitted or crocheted prayer shawls have been lovingly created by members of the Prayer Shawl Group.  The shawls have been received by those appreciating a ‘warm hug filled with God’s love’.  Anyone wishing to knit or crochet prayer shawls (beginners welcome!) are invited to join us in the Trinity Lounge the first Monday of each month at 1:30 pm.  For more info please speak to Anne Corbett
