 The church office will be closed these two days.



 For the Children 
 Children are always welcome and encouraged to come to church on Sunday. 
We have a Nursery Room available upstairs by the balcony, 
Quiet Play Centre in the front right-hand side of the sanctuary
and activity packages are available from the ushers. 

Intergenerational Sunday
The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday
and is an Intergenerational Sunday, 
so the children do not go to Sunday School. 
Activity packages are available from the ushers.

Today is White Gift Sunday
The Nelson Food Cupboard is trying to standardize their Christmas hampers this year and prefers to purchase most of the food in bulk. Please consider making a monetary donation.  Alternatively, donations may also be made to United Church of Canada’s World Development & Relief Fund.  Please make your cheque payable to Nelson United Church and note what it’s for in the memo line.

Jubilate Deo Bell Choir
Thank you to the Jubilate Deo Bell Choir for blessing our worship today with their lovely music.  The musicians, under the direction of John Pengelly, are Wendy Bareham, Janet Boyd, Lorie Buss, Jane Hughes, Wendy Konkin, Natasha Kraus, Verle Miller, Keitha Patton, Kathryn Shold, and Mona Smith.

2018 Offering Envelopes are now available in the Narthex. Please don’t use them until January. If you would like to have offering envelopes, please speak to Donna Strongman or If you would like to donate automatically each month by PAR (Pre-Authorized Remittance), please call the church office.

Service of the Longest Night:  Thursday, December 21st, 7:00 pm
A quiet reflective worship with candle lighting, readings, silence and song.  This worship is for anyone who wishes to pause from the busy-ness of the pre-Christmas time for an hour of quiet reflection.  This can be especially meaningful for those who have experienced a loss this past year.  All are welcome.

Cookie Walk 
Thanks to all who baked cookies, set up on Saturday, and who bought cookies! We sold out in less than an hour and made over $850!  Thank you, Caritas!

New Year’s Eve Celebration!

The calendar features colourful photos of United Churches from across the country and notes special days and church seasons. Recorder Ensemble
Spirit Winds Recorder Ensemble will start rehearsals soon, as well as the Beginner Recorder Class.If you are interested in joining either group, please talk to Robin Murray,, 250-352-2822.

The Pastoral Care Team is looking for people to help support members of our congregation. Do you like to play games? Visit? Could you help drive others to church or church events? Chair Yoga with Instructor, Clement
All are welcome to join in gentle chair yoga classes Tuesdays at 8:30 am in the Church Hall;
And Thursdays at 8:20 am at the Seniors Centre.

Kootenay Refugee Coalition 
If you are interested in donating to help the Kootenay Refugee Coalition support refugees coming to our area and to assist in supporting Selem and Helen from Eritrea, you may do so through your offering envelopes, noting Refugee Coalition in the memo line.  One time or monthly donations are greatly appreciated. Please remember to refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes, aftershaves and all other scented products to church.  We have some members with allergies to these products.

Caring Casseroles
Do you know someone (or yourself) who would be helped by having a pre-made meal?  There are a variety (vegetarian, gluten-free, and meat) of casseroles in the freezer in our kitchen.  Please let Donna Strongman know and it could be delivered, or take it yourself.

Prayer Shawl Group
Over 165 hand knitted or crocheted prayer shawls have been lovingly created by members of the Prayer Shawl Group.  The shawls have been received by those appreciating a ‘warm hug filled with God’s love’.  Anyone wishing to knit or crochet prayer shawls (beginners welcome!) are invited to join us in the Trinity Lounge the first Monday of each month at 1:30 pm.
