Prayers of the People: April 29

Let us prepare to pray as we listen to today’s Prayers of the People:
It is available to anyone and anything. As often as it may be used, the power of its purpose, its sincerity and its intent, remains undeterred, undiluted, undiminished. It is given without cost or expectation; it drives out fear, hatred and distrust. It does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. It bears up under anything and everything that comes, it is ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything without weakening. It is the core essence of who we are, of why we are here and it defines us.

It is only by knowing the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ that we can understand what love is. But it is only by loving that we learn to know God.
So, when you hear the words, God of Love, please respond with “Hear our Prayers”.

Merciful God, we join with others as we pray for our brothers & sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, Peacemakers and peacekeepers, Healthcare workers, teachers, engineers and the many who serve throughout the world through many organizations.
In our Kootenay Presbytery Prayer roster we pray for Cari Copeman-Haynes, President of BC Conference. And in our World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. God of Love…   “Hear our Prayers.”

As we come before you our Father and our Friend, we pray today for our own hearts and for those we love who are sad, or facing bad news, grieving, or unwell. We especially voice our heartfelt concerns for all those named in our Prayer List…     …In the silence now we think of the prayers for those closest to us, who we mention now or hold silently in our hearts…    …God of Love…   “Hear our Prayers.”

Loving God, Help us to continue to bring forth our church to our wider community and have us show your love to the world. Help us to trust in you and in the love you would have for us, so that we may freely share your precious love. God of Love…   “Hear our Prayers.”

And the people say, “Amen!
