Prayers of the People: August 5

When you hear the words, God of All that is,” you may respond with, “Hear our Prayers”
As our creator is always at work in this world, through all of us, let us pray…

Loving and creative God, each day that begins is truly your gift.  Both the hot weather and the watering are producing bumper crops in gardens and farms, loving spoonfuls of which appear on our plates.   But each big leafy tree, with its 200,000 leaves, is shedding more than 400 litres of water a day.  The heat and wind combine to increase this water loss for all plants.  Dear God, Maker of all things, we pray that rain may fall down soon onto our vast parched and burned up region.  God of All that is… “Hear our Prayers

God of Peace and loving Service, envelope your peace and protection on all the Peacemakers and peacekeepers, health care workers, teachers, engineers and the countless millions who serve throughout the world through many organizations. In the World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle, bless and keep those in the countries of Cameroon, Central African Republic and Equatorial Guinea. We pray for our brothers & sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe.  Hear their voices as Church – for safety, survival and witness, as they may cry for their own pain and for the struggle around them. God of All that is… “Hear our Prayers

In our own Kootenay Presbytery prayer roster we remember now Carolyn Rogers, Kootenay Presbytery Conference Minister.  In our church body, we ask for your blessings on David, the staff, the whole congregation and their families. And as voiced by us here in Nelson, we pray for healing and strength—in mind…body… and spirit for these ones named on our Prayer List…  God of All that is… “Hear our Prayers.

God of goodness, may we wish no harm for anyone. In our daily living situations, may we be quick to listen, with open minds and being simply curious about anything or anyone, remaining slow to judge, to raise our voice, or to close our minds. Grant that we are led by empathy for ourselves and others. Give us time for quiet stillness, realizing the vast amount of good that is being done right here, and everywhere. And give us grace … that we may put the worries that pop up, into the hands of the One who encourages us …. again and again … with, “Fear Not”….  “Peace, be still”…. and “I will be with you always”.

God of All that is… “Hear our Prayers
