Prayers of the People: January 6

Published on Jan 6th, 2019 by Member of Congregation | 0

Today we pray in God’s eternal and everlasting light that shines upon all of us and all things. God of Light, teach us to be followers of your law, despite our human fallibility. Within the mystery of your light, guide us to trust in you and in the love you would have for us and to understand that your grace is available to everyone. So, when you hear the words, God of the Divine Light, please respond with “Hear our Prayers”.

Merciful God, we join with others as we pray for our Bienestar partners involved in the Nelson United Church outreach project in Guatemala, Our brothers & sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, Peacemakers and peacekeepers, Health care workers, teachers, engineers and the many who serve throughout the world through many organizations. In The World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle, we pray for the countries of Iran, Iraq, and Syria.  God of the Divine Light…    “Hear our Prayers.”

Loving God, assist us to shed your light on our leadership and guide them to act in the love and interests of all persons and of all of your precious creations. Help us to gain a deeper insight into the beliefs of those who practise other faiths and those who do not so that we can find common ground by which we can work together to benefit those who have needs that we cannot adequately meet on our own. God of the Divine Light…    “Hear our Prayers.”

Compassionate God, we pray today for our own hearts and for those we love who are sad, or facing bad news, grieving, or unwell.  We especially voice our heartfelt concerns for all those named in our Prayer List. We think of the prayers for those closest to us, who we mention now or hold silently in our hearts…    … God of the Divine Light…    “Hear our Prayers.”

God of the Divine Light, may your light lead us on into new and challenging ways of living and serving as we continue to bring forth our church to our wider community and, have us show your love to those on our doorsteps and to those around the world.  God of the Divine Light…    “Hear our Prayers.”

Amen!
