Let us quieten our minds and open our hearts as we offer our prayers to God. When you hear the phrase… God of Forgiveness and Understanding please respond with “Hear our Prayers”

Almighty God creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority we gather together here to worship you.

Here today in this place we open ourselves up to your voice within us to hear your lessons so that we might be drawn closer to the teachings of Jesus. Through you oh creator of our universe and through your son Jesus Christ, we seek our salvation and eternal life. God of Forgiveness and Understanding…    “Hear our Prayers”

Holy One come to us and guide us in aiding those in our community who are struggling to feed, clothe and shelter themselves. We seek the compassion within us through you to bring about positive change in their lives.

We are grateful to see the goodness living within our society in the response to all those afflicted by the forest fires raging in our province. Your spirit lives within our communities and is evident in the out pouring of kindness for those who feel abandoned in their plight. May they be an inspiration to us. In our Kootenay Presbytery Prayer Roster, we pray for your support for the continued good works of the leaders, minister and congregation of Cranbrook United Church.

In our World Council of Churches, we pray that your spirit of kindness may flourish in the countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama. May they come to experience peace and justice in their countries.

Forest fires threatening families and communities are being fought by brave men and women. We seek your protection for them in their endeavour. We ask for your blessing on all the first responders, health care workers, teachers and engineers that come to the aid of people in need everywhere. Truly your spirit lives in their efforts.

We are ever mindful of our brothers and sisters at the Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe and the good work they do. We pray for your continued support and guidance in their work to achieve their goals.

In our world, there is an increased emphasis on the service of peacemakers and peacekeepers. We pray to you, Holy One, to guard them from danger, give them strength to do their work and protect their spirits from the horrible experiences they often endure. God of Forgiveness and Understanding…    “Hear our Prayers”

God of Compassion we turn to those in our congregation and our extended community who face their own challenges. Please bring comfort tool those named in our Prayer List, through us in their struggle.  Among us are those who wish for our prayers to reach others not mentioned here. Please hear their names as they are spoken or seek them out in the silence of our hearts…    …God of Forgiveness and Understanding…    “Hear our Prayers”

Gracious God your spirit has revealed your loving ways to us through the acts of others in our society. Truly the harvest of goodness and kindness is abundant. Now as your light has illuminated our lives may we be a light to others. Let our acts of kindness grow as the kernels of wheat in the human harvest and inspire the inactions of others to add to the abundance.

And the People say…  “AMEN!
