Prayers of the people: July 9

Published on Jul 9th, 2017 by Member of Congregation | 0

Welcome as we greet you in Christ and invite you to pray and rejoice together and to contemplate Christ’s never ending wisdom and understanding today. So, when you hear the words, God of Wisdom, please respond with Hear our Prayers”.

Merciful God, we join with others as we pray for all ministries within our Kootenay Presbytery and in particular on this day we pray for Paula Ashby and the members of Trinity United in Creston. We pray for our brothers & sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, peacemakers and peacekeepers serving throughout the world, Health care workers, teachers, engineers and the many who serve throughout the world through many organizations, and the peoples of Bolivia, Chile, Peru who are named in the World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle. We also pray for people in our province who are presently enduring serious wildfire activity threatening their lives and property.  God of Wisdom…    “Hear our Prayers.”

Loving God, We pray for those who are ill or worried about a diagnosis; for all who are bereaved, and for everyone who is a carer, and those far from home and reconciliation. We especially voice our heartfelt concerns for all those named on our Prayer List. Into your care and keeping we commit those whom we have mentioned and those known to us who need that sense of your presence as we bring them to you in prayer…    …God of Wisdom…    “Hear our Prayers.”

Lord God, source of all wisdom and understanding, we ask for your mercy on your divided people, because while we have knowledge, we often apply assumptions and ill-conceived ideas, because while we may speak of peace, we often create borders and division, because while we may wish one thing, we do another. Help us to reconcile our actions with the wisdom you have given us, so that we can create the love that you have intended for us to do in this your world. God of Wisdom…    “Hear our Prayers.”

Amen
