Prayers of the People: October 7

Published on Oct 8th, 2018 by Member of Congregation | 0

Let us prepare to pray as we listen to today’s Prayers of the People. Today, we give thanks for Creation and the abundance in and of our lives. So, when you hear the words, God of All Creation, please respond with “Hear our Prayers”.

We are all so very gifted; we have an abundance of everything that we must pass on. It could be in the physical, monetary, intellectual, energy, garden and farm. We all have gifts to share with others while we give thanks to you oh God.  We must declare its availability to anyone and anything. Our acts of sharing are offered openly and unconditionally. As often as it may be used, the power of its purpose, its sincerity and its intent, remains undeterred, undiluted, undiminished. It is the core essence of who we are, of why we are here and it defines us. God of All Creation…   “Hear our Prayers”.

Merciful God, we join with others as we pray for our brothers & sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe. Bless all peacemakers and peacekeepers, and all who work to bring unity and understanding in their communities. Bless especially the United Nations and all who seek to bring justice and fair dealings to our world including health care workers, teachers, engineers and the many who serve throughout the world through many organizations. In our Kootenay Presbytery Player roster we pray for Cheryl Swedburg and Carol Patton, Secretaries of Kootenay Presbytery, and in our World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama. God of All Creation…   “Hear our Prayers”.

As we come before you our Father and our Friend, we pray today for our own hearts and for those we love who are sad, or facing bad news, grieving, or unwell.  We especially voice our heartfelt concerns for all those named in our Prayer List…   In the silence now we think of the prayers for those closest to us, who we mention now or hold silently in our hearts…     …God of All Creation…   “Hear our Prayers.”

Loving God, Help us to continue to bring forth our church to our wider community and have us show your love to the world.  It is our abundance of love, soul and spirit that makes us rich; this is who we are and what we can give, without accord to what we have. Help us to trust in you and in the love you would have for us, so that we may freely share your precious love. God of All Creation…   “Hear our Prayers.”

Amen!
