Prayers of the People: September 10

In this quiet time and in this sacred place, let us rest in the light of God’s love. We come to you, God, grateful for the gift of life and thankful for the abundant gardens, the peaceful mountains and the clear waters that surround us.

When you hear the words, God of Enduring Love, please respond with, “Hear our prayers.

Holy Spirit, let your energy flow through us. Let us feel your awesome presence as we view the beauty of the changing colors of the new season. Inspire us with words of peace, with words to bless each other, and to comfort and include. Let us judge all humanity not with our eyes but with loving hearts. We  pray today for the renewal of the land that has been scorched by fire, for the firefighters who endeavor to contain the fires and for the people who have been affected by the fires. We pray also for wisdom and understanding for the students and their teachers as the school year gets underway in our church, in our public and private schools and in our colleges and universities. Inspire and excite the teachers to share their knowledge with patience and kindness and enlighten and open the minds of the students to receive this knowledge. God of Enduring Love…    “Hear our prayers.

Compassionate God, we ask for your comforting presence in the lives of all those who are suffering from sickness, all those who are grieving, all those who are hungry and lonely and troubled. We ask for your blessing for our brothers and sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church. We pray for the Peacemakers and peacekeepers, Health Care workers, teachers and engineers serving throughout the world. Bless them and keep them safe. We especially hold up to you all those named in our Prayer List. We pause now to remember and name aloud or silently others whose lives touch ours and whose needs and concerns are our too…      …God of Enduring Love…    “Hear our prayers.

God of all People, kindle in every heart the true love of peace. Help us to look beyond boundaries, beyond denominations, beyond doctrines and beyond our own self interests. Rid the leaders of the world of prejudice and selfishness and inspire them to hunger for what is right and just and act accordingly. In the Kootenay Presbytery Prayer Roster, we pray for Michelle Matson and Linn Murray, youth representatives of Kootenay Presbytery. In our World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle we pray for the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. God of Enduring Love…    “Hear our prayers.

Faithful God, we live in a fragile economy, threatened by wars, by natural disasters, and the plunder of industry. Lord give us the fortitude to work for resolutions to the problems that face our world with wisdom and determination. Let our contributions, however small, make an impact. Let our actions create a better life for all people. And for all that we pray for, help us to accept your will.
