Christian Education & Spiritual Formation
Looking for a liberal, thoughtful, progressive, and justice-minded group of people with whom to worship, learn and give back to the world.
At Nelson United Church, we have a commitment to Christian education and spiritual formation. Below are some of the programs that we offer regularly; others come up from time to time. And there are opportunities for family events and other learning opportunities throughout the year.
Liberal, Protestant & Progressive Educational Opportunities For ADULTS
Book Group: Thursday mornings over a simple breakfast, an opportunity to talk about a book.
Meditation: The 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings at 7:30 pm. We meet for an hour, half of which is meditation.
Theology & Bible Studies: Two or three times a year, we use a DVD study resource from Living the Questions, and also engage in bible study.
Lenten Studies: During the 6 weeks of Lent, we offer a spiritual & justice-based study.
Intentional Living: This group meets on a mutually convenient Monday evening for intentional sharing about our lives.
Watch our calendar and announcements for dates and places.

A Liberal, Progressive Sunday School
(regrettably cancelled during COVID-19 restrictions)
Nelson United offers age-appropriate learning opportunities for children at 10:00 every Sunday morning and a Youth Group that gets together twice a month.
When many people think of Christianity, the stereotype that is generally put forward is that of a judgmental God, an overemphasis on guilt, the denigration of creation, and an exclusive claim about who is welcome.
Would it surprise you to learn that there is no monolithic way of being Christian and that many of us come from a liberal Protestant perspective where love is emphasized and all are welcome regardless of sexuality, gender, race, or socio-economic status? Maybe Nelson United Church is a place for you and your family.
Family Events: At key times of the year, e.g. Advent and Lent, family events are offered to encourage a deeper understanding of those seasons and as a support encouragement to families living in today’s world.
