Valentine Coffee Party Update
A big thank you from the 56 Unit to all who helped set up, bake and bring books and to those who came to enjoy coffee and fellowship at our annual Valentine’s Day Coffee Party.  The party was successful in many ways and we made over $800!

Pancake Supper Update
The Men’s Club Pancake Supper was a huge success! Attendance exceeded 120 and the net income generated was $758. A heap of thanks to our church membership for supporting the Men’s Club.  For the second year Caritas joined with us to shoulder the many duties that are necessary.

When it comes to support for our many fundraisers throughout the year, we are,
simply put, “an amazing organization.”

Thank-You …
To Ralph Elliott for repairing the rolling kitchen cart.
To Lynne Busby for organizing the Lenten Prayer Vigil.
To Kathy Baker for donating tablecloth hangers.
To Peter Busby for preparing a space for the hangers.

Animate Faith
For the season of Lent (and a bit beyond), you are invited to join with others in an exploration of our faith from the perspective of God, religion/spirituality, Jesus and the revolution of love, salvation as abundant life, the cross as an invitation to live, the Bible as a book like no other, and Church as an imperfect family. There’ll be a short video for each segment and a journal to take notes and delve more deeply into these issues. The cost is $25 and if this is a challenge, please speak to David. We’ll start on Monday, February 23rd at 7:00 pm in the Fairview Room. There will be 7 sessions.  Talk to David for more information.

An Experiment for Lent
The Worship Planning Team has decided to try weekly communion through Lent; many other United Churches are doing this as a Lenten discipline experiencing God’s presence. has promised shorter prayers and a shorter sermon so that it won’t take longer than a  normal worship service.    So, starting Sunday, February 22ndwe will begin a weekly communion through the Lenten Season.

2015 Offering Envelopes
If you haven’t already picked them up, your 2015 offering envelopes are available in the narthex.  Please start using these envelopes now.  To avoid confusion and to make sure your 2015 donations are applied to your 2015 envelope offering number, please dispose of last year’s leftover envelopes.   If you do not have offering envelopes and would like them, please speak to Donna Strongman or phone the office.

World Day of Prayer
This year the world day of prayer will be held at Nelson United on Friday, March 6th at 1:00 pm.  The service was written by the women of the Bahamas, and will be led by Carol Prochaska.  Refreshments will be served and ALL are welcome to attend.

Camp Koolaree AGM
Camp Koolaree will be holding its AGM on Saturday, March 7th, 7:00 pm at Castlegar United Church. Immediately before at 6:00 pm, there will be a Special Meeting to vote on changes to the Constitution and Bylaws.
