Sunday School is in summer recess. We have a Nursery Room available upstairs by the balcony, a Quiet Play Centre at the front right-hand side of the sanctuary and activity packages for the children are available from the ushers.

Intergenerational Sunday The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday and is an Intergenerational Sunday, so the children do not go to Sunday School. Activity packages are available from the ushers.

We Are An Affirming Ministry As an Affirming Ministry, we celebrate the diversity of God’s creation. We celebrate the richness of our community when we have diversity in age, gender identity, racial/cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, ability, and family configurations. We seek to create a safe space with an open invitation to bring every aspect of your whole self into your participation in this ministry

Thank You
Faithfest weekend was delightful, with friendships renewed, workshops enjoyed, and new concepts learned.   Our thanks to the Faith Fest planning team that included Jody, David and Robin, and to Reverend Carol Howard Merritt, keynote speaker for the weekend and guest preacher for Sunday.  Most special and grateful thanks to all those UCW members, and there were many involved, who provided food and hospitality.  Thanks to all those who cooked and baked, to those who set up the room for each meal, and to those who did the clean-up after each meal.  You are such a competent and dedicated team.  Thank you!

Anniversary Breakfast — Sunday, July 7th
Let us cook you breakfast!  To celebrate the 24th Anniversary of Nelson United Church, the Worship Planning Team will be dishing up bacon, French toast & maple syrup, and fruit at 8:30 Sunday morning, July 7th.  Gluten-free and dairy-free options will be available. Please RSVP at the church office, 250-352-2822.

Dedication Celebration
On July 14th, we will meet after church to dedicate our new Church Hall Space.  Lunch will be provided by the Board members
and the Administration team. Please stay for lunch and participate in this celebration.

Summer Break
The Men’s group will be taking a break from their Friday games afternoons for July and August.  The games will resume on September 13th at 1 pm in the Church Hall and will continue on the 2nd & 4th Friday of each month. Have a great summer!

*Church Business Parking on Silica Street*
The City of Nelson has advised us to issue Parking Passes to those who park in the Church Business Parking on Silica Street on Mondays to Saturdays between 9 am to 5 pm.  The bylaw officer will ticket anyone parking in these spots that do not have a Parking Pass.  Please see Lois in the church office to receive a Parking Pass.

Friendly Reminder re Parking for Church & Church Events
With our location on the corner of two streets, and with the hills parking is a challenge. Our request is that the more able-bodied folk please park farther away from the church thus leaving the spots on the streets closer to the church for those who need them. This includes the parking lot at the back of the church, too. Many of you already carpool and that’s great; a nice social time, too.

Hearing Loop Installation
The Sanctuary’s main floor Hearing Loop is up and running and folks are reporting success with the system. If you find yourself having problems getting your hearing aids to connect with the Hearing Loop, please check with your Hearing Aid provider to make sure your hearing aids have a t-coil and are set up correctly.

NUC Account at Bottle Depot We have an account set up at the Nelson Leafs Bottle Depot and Recycling Centre.A reminder that before they start counting your bottles and cans, let them know they’re for Nelson United Church or they’ll give you cash if you don’t.Every little bit helps – thanks, everyone!

Looking for Ushers We are looking for someone to join the Ushering Team. Would you be able to spend a bit of time before the service, once every 5 months or so, welcoming folks and giving out bulletins? Please let me, or Lois in the office, know if you would like to volunteer in this way. Thanks – Donna Strongman
