When you hear the words, “God of Love and Mercy”…. Please respond with “Hear our Prayers.”
God of Resurrection and renewal, we give attention to the signs of spring slowly emerging, and rejoice in both sun and shower, wind and calm, bud and flower, green, yellow and blue replacing winter’s brown and gray. Thank you for providing us with such regularity as the sun coming up each morning, moving in its path and setting, sometimes in brilliance! – the stars and constellations also moving every second; and the moon, thin perfect crescent, bright full, or in between. Gratefulness fills our hearts and minds with these and many more wonders of your creation!
We pray for the future of our environment, with our intention to respect and protect this your gift. God of Love and Mercy… Hear our prayers.
Richard Rohr prays, “God, we ask that all who are affected by this virus be held in your loving care. In this time of uncertainty, help us to know what is ours to do. We know you did not cause this suffering but that you are with us in it and through it. Help us to recognize your presence in acts of kindness, in moments of silence, and in the beauty of the created world. Grant peace and protection to all of humanity for their well-being and for the benefit of the Earth.
We remember the Bienestar partners involved in our outreach project in Guatemala and our brothers & sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, and ask for good health and safety for all. In the World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, we pray for the countries of Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.
God of Strength, drape your protection over peacemakers and peacekeepers, health care workers, teachers, engineers and scientists, all who serve around the world through many organizations; LGBTQ2SIA+ people who are persecuted in many countries; and those locally who bravely serve us, offering food and medical care. Comfort, heal and calm those affected by COVID-19, whether in body, mind or spirit. God of Love and Mercy… Hear our prayers.
In the Pacific Mountain Regional Council’s prayer cycle, we pray for Hope-Trinity Community Church (Pastoral Charge), Mackenzie, BC
Loving God, be near to, bless and keep safe Danaraj and Jasmine, David, Lois, Robin, Robyn and their families – and these others that we name all those on our Prayer List. Let us say now, silently or aloud, the names of others on our minds who are in need… …God of Love and Mercy… Hear our prayers.
In the same way that all people on Earth might gather around a single piece of music and sing in perfect unison, each in their own language, let all of us join in the unity of purpose, to love, understand and bring peace to this needy world. May we come out of this crisis having a better understanding of ourselves and what we hold dear to us.
As John O’Donahue writes, “If you send out goodness from yourself, or if you share that which is happy or good within you, it will all come back to you multiplied ten thousand times. In the kingdom of love, there is no competition; there is no possessiveness or control. The more love you give away, the more love you will have.” God of Love and Mercy… Hear our prayers.
And we all say together… “Amen!“
