Let us join our hearts and minds as one in prayer. When you hear the words “God of blessing and promise”, please respond with “Hear our Prayers.

Today we feel the presence of You, God, our companion and our protector. We have been blessed to welcome the Shunter family to share the love, support and the friendship of this congregation. We thank you, loving God, for our faith, and for this place of worship and community. We take hope and find courage in the goodness of each person willing to reach out to be a friend, a leader, a spiritual advisor.  God of blessing and promise…    “Hear our Prayers.

Compassionate God, we bring you our prayers for the world and for others in our community. In our Kootenay Presbytery prayer cycle this week, we offer prayers for Reverend David Boyd, our minister here at Nelson United Church, and the Treasurer of Kootenay Presbytery; and for our congregation here at Nelson United Church. In the World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle, we offer prayers for the people of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In our province of BC and for our neighbours in Washington, we feel deep concern for all those who have been so devastated by wildfires. Our hearts go out to all the refugees and migrants of the world who are trying so desperately to build better lives for themselves and who so often put themselves in great danger. God of blessing and promise…    “Hear our Prayers.

Restoring God, we pray for all who are ill or in pain; for those who grieve; for those who feel lonely, desolate or unloved.  May they be comforted and strengthened, and their hearts filled with renewed hope. We ask that you bring light to all those named in our Prayer List, The People of Susiya, Palestine, Gladys Frocklage, Charlie Dewey, and the family and friends of Iris Fraser and Mary Hucal. We pause at this time to name, either silently or aloud, all those for whom we are concerned…    …God of blessing and promise…    “Hear our Prayers.

Peace- loving God, help us to work toward a peaceful world as we pray that you support and sustain all peacekeepers, peacemakers and their families. We are in awe of the work done throughout the world by doctors, nurses and volunteers who belong to and support the Doctors Without Borders organization. Extend your love and strength toward our brothers and sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist church in Zimbabwe. Help us to have greater awareness and a deeper commitment to what will heal our troubled world and to ways that we can help to overcome the damage that has been and is continuing to be done to Your wondrous world. Guide us to be wise and responsible as we live our privileged daily lives. God of blessing and promise…    “Hear our Prayers.

God of blessing and promise,
Guide our thoughts and our words,
Guide our work and our play.
Keep us present in the moment,
And open to Your presence.
Help us to live fully today.

Being ever mindful of the words Jesus taught us, let us say the Jesus prayer together:

Our Father, who is in heaven,
Hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
