Loving God, open our hearts and still our minds as we prepare for prayer. In the stillness, may we feel your presence guiding us as we pray. When you hear the words: “God of Peace and Love”, please respond with “Hear our Prayers.”
Faithful God, During this month, when winter is at times a challenge, help us to remember that your have arranged the seasons. That beneath the snow are the seeds preparing for spring and that the delicate balance of our earth will unfold as planned. In this mid-winter month, when our surroundings seem to lie still, help us to enjoy this stillness and give thanks for the blessed peace and quiet of our snow-blanketed earth. Help us to protect our environment and respect the gift of creation. God of Peace and Love… “Hear our prayers.”
Compassionate God, you call us to love one another and pray for each other and so we hold in our prayers today our Bienestar partners involved in the Nelson United Church outreach project in Guatemala, our brothers and sisters at the Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe and the LGBTQ+ people who are persecuted in so many countries. We pray also for Peacemakers and peacekeepers, health care workers, teachers, engineers and the many who serve throughout the world through many organizations especially now with the Coronavirus threatening every country. As well in our Pacific Mountain Regional Council Prayer Cycle, we pray for Vernon Trinity United Church. God of Peace and Love… “Hear our prayers.”
Loving God, Open our hearts to all humanity as we pray for all those who are struggling in mind, body and spirit. We pray for the homeless who are living on the streets, for those who are enslaved by addiction and for those who are shunned by society. May your healing comfort and love touch those who are ill or in need of your gentle presence. We especially pray for all those named in our Prayer List. Extend your loving comfort also to those close to our hearts who in this moment of silence, we name silently or aloud… …God of Peace and Love… “Hear our prayers.”
God of all People, help us to listen to the needs of not only our country but the world. We are grateful that we are part of a community of faith for it is faith that gives us strength and courage and a steadfast belief that our prayers for others are heard and felt. Today in our World Council of Churches Prayer Cycle, we pray for the countries of Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. God of Peace and Love… “Hear our prayers.”
God of Wisdom, Bless the spirit of love, life, wisdom and peace that empowers us to move forward each day. Fill our hearts with strength and purpose to live each day with gratefulness. Let our love be patient, kind and hopeful, the evidence of our faith in God.
And the people say: “Amen!”
