On this special day of celebration we come into your presence with thankful hearts for all your blessings so freely given to this congregation of Nelson United Church. So, God of all creation, we come in awe and wonder and humility to offer our respect and gratitude for all the gifts given us by your providential love.
In the Kootenay Presbytery Prayer Roster we name Paula Ashby and members of Trinity United Church in Creston. In the World Council of Churches prayer cycle we pray for Bolivia, Chile and Peru. Sometimes our worlds are upset and changed by events outside our control. Compassionate God bring us comfort where there is pain and barreness, healing where there is hurt, and faith where there is loss. We know the roads of our life journeys may be rough and hard. We thank you, God, for smoothing out the rough spots and refreshing us with new courage and new paths.
Be patient with us when we stray. Forgive us our human frailties and sensitize us to your prompts as we seek to better the lives of others and offer help and guidance to those in need. We are saddened and alarmed by the acts of violence and hatred committed against the victims of these acts and put our trust in your guidance to find solutions to peaceful co-existence among all peoples and cultures. In our prayers then are peace makers and peace keepers and their families and health care workers, teachers, professionals in all occupations and the many who serve throughout the world in many organizations to alleviate pain, displacement and suffering.
We also ask Your spiritual presence and guidance for our brothers and sisters at Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe. We hold in our concern all those named in our Prayer List and the ones bringing their names to us. On this special time when we celerbrate anniversaries we ask your blessing on this country of Canada and all those new Canadians and the refugees seeking peace and security in this their new home.
All these prayers we offer through your son, Jesus our Redeemer, You with us.
